Broya | Bone Broth Mexican Paletas Recipe

Mango | Ginger | Turmeric | Paleta

When my Broya Bone Broth arrived at my house it was one of the first really hot days of spring. I looked at this gorgeous packaging and read the ingredients of each flavour and thought “what can I create with this that’s cold and really, really yummy?”

 Popsicles!

Well, an adult-type popsicle.. exotic, nutrient dense, spicy.. more like a Mexican paleta tbh.

Walk with me here…

As a holistic nutritionist who loved whole food-based cooking, including healthy desserts AND is always trying to keep tabs on my food’s effect on the gut, I was really excited to see the flavour and ingredient bases of each kind of Broya bone broth.

The ginger + turmeric kind spoke to me. So, there birthed the creamy, spicy, fatty, sweet and gut supportive Mango Ginger Turmeric Paleta.

Why I Love These Ingredients:

I’m pretty excited about each and every ingredient here. Some are helpful to provide the gut the nutrients needed to repair the gut, some are anti-inflammatory, others are rich in minerals to support our nervous system and cellular metabolism and others work as a carminative (gas-buster).

The star of the show here really is the bone broth. The balance of earthiness from the ginger bone broth and turmeric, partnered with the familiar spiciness of the ginger is the perfect base for a powerful fruit flavour like mango.

I added beautiful spices + herbs like cumin, cayenne, black pepper a touch of salt and fresh mint leaves to add an exotic, adult spin on the traditional summer sweet treat.

This paleta would be beautiful on a hot summer afternoon as a nutrient dense snack, or share with loved ones after dinner in replacement of a cocktail. The heat from the cayenne and ginger help as an internal cooling aid on hot summer days.

I hope you love this traditional Mexican Paleta as much as I have. They’re simple to make, pack a lot of flavour and health supportive nutrition and you may even get your kids to try! My friend’s 5-year-old said it was “the best popsicle ever!”

  1. Pour mixture into non-toxic silicone or stainless-steel popsicle molds and place in the freezer for 4 hours.
  1. When ready to eat, run popsicle under warm water for a few seconds then remove from mould. Sprinkle some Tajin spice on top if you’re into that heat!
  1. Enjoy!!
